Things to do

Bike Rentals Available

lummi-island-bicycleTired of walking? Rent a bike! – THE NORTH LOOP – A favorite bike ride is the 7-mile loop on the north end of the island.  The trip is almost entirely by the water and you can stop at the Beach Store Cafe or The Sauseberger on the east side of the island. See if you can spot the whales on the island’s west side as they follow the salmon run.  Start anywhere on  N. Nugent Road, go north and then south on West Shore Drive, and east on Legoe Bay Road until you get to  N. Nugent Road and complete the loop. The same road, just different names, as it curves around. The ride is almost entirely by the water.

THE SOUTH LOOP – You can take the short route by starting at the ferry dock and going south on S. Nugent Rd. then left on Sunrise to where it makes a T, take a left here on Seacrest Dr. and continue on until it meets S. Nugent again and then back to the ferry dock.  That is approximately a 3.5 mile ride.  If you are feeling strong then instead of turning left on Seacrest take a right and continue up the hill to Beach Ave. and take a left, continue on and when you hit Cedar take a right until you complete the circle and then retrace your ride down Seacrest to the ferry dock.  Be careful as cars are not used to bikes on this route.

Available to guests of Lummi Island Vacations only. Book early as supplies are limited. $20 per day with helmet, $90 per week. Rentals available by the day or week includes helmets. Call Virginia at 360-758-2528.

Reefnet Fishery

actionreefnettingWatch sustainable fishing from the shore of Legoe Bay. Pacific Northwest reefnet fishing is a historical salmon fishing method.

Reefnetting produces the highest quality wild pacific salmon available and they are handled with the utmost reverence and respect. There are only 11 reefnet license holders in the world, with most of these reefnet gears are here on Legoe Bay.
